ロバート・バッカーは、ピーターが1974年に『ネイチャー』に共同寄稿した論文で、恐竜を自然単系統群と規定し、多系統群は関連性の薄い2つの異なる秩序で構成されるという見解を示したことは恐竜学に革命を起こし、その復活に寄与したと主張した。
