Sakura Mobile is an MVNO and uses the 4G LTE networks of docomo, SoftBank and WiMAX. The network used for fiber-optic internet is the NTT FLET’S Hikari network.
Sakura Mobile differs from other Japanese carriers in the aspect that it is catered towards international visitors and residents in Japan. The company has a reputation for providing excellent English support, flexible contracts, and its ability to process various types of payment methods[1].

Sakura Mobile was founded in Tokyo in 2014[3]. Up until now (2021), Sakura Mobile has provided SIM cards, pocket WiFi, and fiber-optic internet to more than 100,000 international residents and travelers in Japan. In recent years, the demand for its products has expanded to corporations, so Sakura Mobile has begun to offer SIM cards to major global companies. During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Sakura Mobile provided SIM cards and Pocket WiFi to the Olympic Committee and international media organizations.

TRAVEL SIM / WIFI[編集]
Travel SIM cards and Pocket WiFi are products intended for short term use (less than 90 days), and are mainly offered to tourists visiting Japan.
LONG TERM SIM / WiFi[編集]
Sakura Mobile’s Long Term SIM cards and Pocket WiFi are products with monthly contracts predominantly used by long-term residents in Japan (residing for more than 90 days). SIM cards with a Japanese phone number (Voice + Data SIM) are also available.
HOME INTERNET (Sakura Fiber Internet)[編集]
Sakura Mobile’s home internet service is a monthly contract for fiber-optic internet and is used by long-term residents in Japan (including international students and expats).
