MineplexはMinecraftのミニゲームサーバー。Minecraftの7つのBedrock Editionのサーバーの1つであり、 Minecraftの開発者であるMojang Studiosと正式に提携している[1][2][3]。2016年半ばの時点で、Mineplexには毎月数百万人のプレーヤーがログインしていた[4]。ピーク時には、サーバーの同時接続者がほぼ常に約20,000人いて[5]、2015年1月28日には同時接続者数34,434人と当時のMinecraftサーバーで最も多く、ギネス世界記録の記録を更新した[6]。
この記録は同じ年にHypixelに奪われた[7]。Mineplexの人気はピーク時から急速に低下しており、現在、Java Editionサーバーの平均プレーヤー数は約300〜600人となっているが[8] 、 Bedrock Editionサーバーの平均プレーヤー数は5,000人以上となっている[9]。
歴史[編集]
Mineplexは、2013年1月24日にGregory BylosとSpujellによって設立され、作成された[10][11][12]Minecraftでは「Sterling_」および「Spu_」として知られている。このサーバーは、現在も稼働している最も古いMinecraftサーバーの1つとなっている[10]。YouTuberのCaptainSparklezがオーナーシップチームの一員になり、サーバーに関する動画を公開した後、サーバーはプレーヤーを大幅に増やした[13]。2015年6月、サーバーは43,033人の同時接続者で他のサーバーの記録を破った[14]。2016年、Dallas MavericksはMineplexと提携して、サーバー用のミニゲームであるDallas Mavericks Worldを作成した。チームのニュースリリースによると、これにより、プレーヤーは、アメリカン・エアラインズ・センターの実物大モデルで、建物の競技会に参加したり、バスケットボールのミニゲームをプレイしたりできるようになった。ミニゲームは2016年の夏にサーバー上で起動されましたが、MineplexとMojang Studiosのパートナーシップにより、最終的に失敗した[15][4][16][17]。2016年7月7日、Bedrock Editionサーバーが作成され、19,000人の同時プレイヤーでピークに達した[18][9]。それ以来、Mineplexは少しずつプレーヤー数が減っている。 Mineplexは現在、RyanStruttonとJonathanWilliamsが所有しており、 Minecraftでは「Strutt20」および「defek7」として知られている[8][19]。

サーバーの主な機能は、さまざまなミニゲーム、特別にカスタマイズされ、さまざまな目的で大幅に変更されたマルチプレイヤーマップがある[20][21]。これらのミニゲームは、サンドボックスゲームに勝てるゲームプレイの仕組みを提供する[22]。ミニゲームは、クラシック、アーケード、チャンピオン、クラン、ホリデーミニゲームなどのカテゴリに分類される。サーバー運営と開発の費用を集めるために、Mineplexは、Minecraft Bedrock Editionのマーケットプレイスで、ゲーム内のコスメティックと特別な機能、およびスキンとマップをプレーヤーに販売している[23][24]。
