Toshikatsu Takagi (born 31 July 1947 ) is a Japanese poet and novelist.

The Melting Darkness Smooth rotation in a dark box From the white maze, Port structure, were published and got several literally prizes.

He has a pen name as(高木敏克)and his real name is (高木利勝). Both names have the same pronunciation in Japanese.

He was born into an ordinary office worker’s family and raised in Kobe and is still in Kobe. But the house where he was born was built by his maternal grandfather and was a sailor. He grew up in the presence of his grandfather whom he has never seen. That cast a dark shadow on him which also become the color of his novel. He spent his time in Kobe from kindergarten to high school. After that he entered Kansai university in Osaka. Meanwhile he participated in the student movement as Zengakuren. After all he became distrustful of politics and  completely immersed in literature.

Influenced by Franz Kafka and has learned the method of Franz Kafka he never writes private life novels. Even if it looks like a private novel, it is a third person novel. He can be said to be an epic poet of fiction.

Testimony;1

In his novel, there is a flow of trying to portray the fictitious black-and-white world of x-rays that invests in real life and the unclear meaning it implicates (Terumasa Kojima 1989 ‘Kansai underground context’ )

( Original Text: 髙木敏克の小説には現実のからくりとそれが示唆する不分明な意味とを透視するX線写真のような虚構のモノクロ世界を描こうとする流れがある。小島輝正 1989「関西地下文脈」)

Testimony;2

The feature of his novel lies in the fun of the wit (in the sense of Freud) that arises from the free combination of images. It is because of the sensation that his brilliantly imaged expressiveness escapes from reaching the downstream of surrealism. (Toshikazu Oda 1986 ‘smooth rotation in the dark box’ Touch)

(Original Text:

He climbs various mountains by bicycle between writing and also ride on a bicycle that goes around Awaji island and around Lake Biwa. According to him, he is in a state of meditation while riding a bicycle and gains the same enlightenment as ZEN. That is how he got his inspiration for the poem and novel for example.

However, the novel world that comes out of his cheerful look is an extremely depressing world, where we see his mysterious duality. First of all, he is the definitive reader of Franz Kafka, Allan Poe, Boris Vian, Lautreamon, Dostevsky, and other Western literature. These reading experiences stand in the deep sea of darkness. He does not like Japanese private novels, so he has few friends of the novelist
