Kagamiyama started its business under the style of Kyuboshi in 1843 . In 1875, it moved to the present location and constructed its own brewery in Kawagoe. Since then, it continued making local Kawagoe sake for more than 100 years until it closed its business in 2000.Its buildings were registered as a tangible cultural asset. When the buildings were used for sake brewing, each storehouse had its own function. At Showa Storehouse, shubo, or starter culture, and moromi, or fermentation mash, were made from koji and steamed rice. At Meiji Storehouse, sake was pressed and filtered. At Taiho Storehouse, sake was stored and bottled. Kojimuro, or koji-making room, which is the most important place for sake brewing was attached to the Meiji Storehouse, which was the oldest and called the main storehouse. The present Koedo Kurari was constructed in 2010 with the purpose of promoting exchange between locals and tourists, revitalizing the city and promoting local products.
