デジタルデータ保存

図書館やアーカイブズ学において、デジタルデータ保存とは、継続的な価値のあるデジタル情報にアクセスし、利用できるようにするための組織化された取り組みを指す。^[1] これには、保存のための手法や技術の計画、資源配分、応用が含まれる。そこでは、メディアの故障や技術的変化といった問題に縛られずにデジタル化されたコンテンツや「ボーンデジタル」コンテンツへのアクセスを確保するための、方針、戦略、行動が組み合わせられる。デジタルデータ保存の目標は、コンテンツが時を超えて正確に提示できるようにすることである。^[2] アメリカ図書館協会のAssociation for Library Collections and Technical Services Preservation and Reformatting Sectionでは、デジタルデータ保存を「デジタルコンテンツへのアクセスを確保するための方針、戦略、行動」^[3]の連携と定義している。 Harrod's Librarian Glossaryによれば、デジタルデータ保存とは、技術の進歩によって当初のハードウェアやソフトウェアの仕様が廃止されても、デジタル資料を使用可能な状態に保つ方法である。^[4]
